Shopandship FTW

I’m reeling (with excitement) right now because of what must be the quickest, most efficient online purchase I’ve ever made here in South Africa. But, lets start at the beginning.

Yesterday found me in the situation where Retha, my housemate, kept on appropriating my Wacom pen tablet. Since I use my tablet pen as/instead of a mouse this became a bit of a problem. (In all fairness, the Intuos is awesome, and I would have done the same, but this couldn’t go on.) So, I decided on an early Christmas present for Retha.

I started searching around the internets for a local company that sells the Wacom Bamboo tablet, since I’ve heard so much that is good about it. My search eventually led me to Shop and Ship.

Here is how the whole thing played out.

  • I placed my order at 2:26 pm. As this was my first order with Shop and Ship I was required to register. A registration email was automatically emailed to me.
  • At 2:27 pm I received my order confirmation email as well as a payment email from the credit card processing company. (VCS)
  • At 2:41 pm I received another email from Shop and Ship notifying me that my payment was received.
  • At 2:52 I received a mail to inform me that my product was ready to be dispatched.
  • At 3:09 pm I got a “Connect Prealert Advisory” email from DHL with a link to their website, where I could (and did) track every movement of my parcel.

  • My package was delivered this morning at 8:15 am. Impressive!

A company that gives this kind of service has my eternal gratitude, as well as a monumental thumbs up. In less that 24 hours I had what I purchased. This has never happened to me before and was quite unexpected form a South African company. (I once waited 5 weeks for a company that shall remain anonymous to deliver an iPod car charger from Johannesburg to Pretoria.)

I will, without a doubt, do business with Shop and Ship in the future.
